Kamila Kingston
Kamila Kingston is the co-founder and director of White Lotus Beauty, the brand that brought jade rollers, gua sha, facial cupping and crystal ear seeds to the world long before any of them became a trend. She is a qualified acupuncturist, an award winning founder, co-author of the bestselling Holistic Cosmetic Acupuncture: The Natural Guide to Rejuvenating Facial Acupuncture, and a mentor to women building businesses around the world.

Kamila and Anthony Kingston, co-founders of White Lotus Beauty.
A patient before she was a practitioner
Kamila came to Chinese medicine as a patient. What it did for her own health sent her to university to study acupuncture and traditional Chinese herbal medicine properly, and in 2004 she and her husband Anthony opened White Lotus Cosmetic Acupuncture in Brisbane, the first specialist cosmetic skin needling clinic in Australia.
The clinic was busier than two people could physically treat. Rather than scale the chairs, she did something less obvious and far more interesting: she worked out how to put the techniques into her clients' own hands, designed the tools to do it with, and took the business online. That decision, made around 2008, is the reason a jade roller now sits on bathroom shelves from Brisbane to Birmingham.
Building a category, not just a brand
White Lotus Beauty is the original crystal beauty tool brand. It pioneered jade rollers, gua sha, facial cupping, crystal ear seeds and holistic microneedling, and it has stayed stubbornly specific about quality while the market filled with imitations: genuine Grade A crystal, never chemically treated, solid metal brackets, a signature silk lined box and a lifetime guarantee on every crystal tool. The skincare is made with organic ingredients. The brand is PETA certified vegan and cruelty free.
Today the range is stocked at Nordstrom and Ulta Beauty, and Kamila runs the company's UK operations alongside the overall strategic direction of the business. She and Anthony have taught these techniques to doctors, nurses, acupuncturists and beauty therapists across Europe, the United States and Australia, and together they co-authored Holistic Cosmetic Acupuncture: The Natural Guide to Rejuvenating Facial Acupuncture, which became a bestseller.
Mentoring women founders
The part of her week that has nothing to do with skincare is the part she is most often asked about.
Kamila mentors women founders privately, internationally, and has done so for years. She is not a consultant who has read about building a business. She has built one twice, in two countries, through a pandemic, while raising three children, and the advice she gives is the advice of somebody who has actually had the hard quarter and the good one.
Founders come to her for the things nobody puts in a business plan: pricing a premium product without apologising for it, getting into major retail and surviving the terms, building a team you can actually delegate to, protecting a brand's integrity when growth would be easier without it, and the specific problem of being the woman in the room.
She is blunt about the team part in particular. Speaking to Authority Magazine on what it takes to succeed as a woman founder, she put it this way:
"You are only as great as your team. If you seriously think you are the genius in your business and do not have people that are smarter than you around you, honestly you are in trouble."
And on the question every founder with a family asks her:
"You can still have a family and have a balance if that is your priority. What is prioritised gets done."
She is also a second generation family constellation facilitator and psychotherapist, which is less of a detour than it sounds. It informs both the mentoring and the way she writes about skin, because a great deal of what shows up on a face is tension, stress and sleep.

What she writes here
Kamila writes and reviews the guides on this site. They are written the way she would explain something to a client across a treatment couch, including the parts where the honest answer is that a tool will not do what the internet claims.
- Your ritual, the order to use your tools in and why that order.
- The complete guide to gua sha and the complete guide to jade rollers.
- Facial cupping, how to do it at home without marking your face.
- Facial lymphatic drainage, including why the route goes up over the ear.
- The complete guide to silk and silk versus satin.
- Menopause, skin and hair, what changes and what actually helps.
- Crystal tool safety and contraindications and using crystal tools after filler and botox.
- The five elements of Chinese medicine.
Away from the business
Kamila is also co-founder of Yavelle, a deuterium depleted water company launched in 2026. She lives in the Gold Coast hinterland in South East Queensland with Anthony and their three children.
