Why does White Lotus recommend colloidal silver over alcohol for cleaning beauty tools?
Both kill 99.99% of bacteria but colloidal silver has two advantages for beauty tools. First, alcohol residue left on a dermaroller or crystal tool can transfer to the skin at the next use and cause dehydration and irritation, particularly on freshly microneedled skin. Second, repeated alcohol exposure can degrade the glue used in cheaper assembled tools over time. Colloidal silver cleans effectively without either issue, which is why it is the primary recommendation across the White Lotus tool range.
Why is cleaning so critical for microneedling tools specifically?
A dermaroller or dermastamp creates thousands of micro-channels in the skin, which means any bacteria on the needles can be carried directly into the skin rather than sitting on the surface. This makes cleaning microneedling tools before and after every single use non-negotiable. Crystal tools used on intact skin carry lower risk but still accumulate skin oils, product residue and surface bacteria with every use. One consistent cleaning habit with the same spray covers both.
How do I clean a dermaroller correctly with this spray?
Spray the needle head thoroughly before and after every use and allow it to sit for around one minute. After use, first rinse the roller briefly under running water to remove serum residue, then spray with the cleaner and let it air dry completely before returning it to its case. Never soak the roller in any solution and never wipe the needles with a cloth, which can bend the fine tips. Air drying after spraying is the correct method.
Is colloidal silver safe on jade, rose quartz and amethyst tools?
Yes. The colloidal silver formula is gentle on all the crystals in the White Lotus range and will not affect the surface polish or natural colour of jade, rose quartz, amethyst or tourmaline. It is also safe for the metal frames and fittings on rollers and combs. Spray the tool, allow 30 seconds of contact time, then wipe with a soft lint-free cloth. This is the recommended deep clean to follow the quick damp cloth wipe after each use.
Can I use this cleaner on ear seed tweezers and the acupressure mat?
Yes to the tweezers, which should be sprayed between every ear seed application. The ear seeds themselves are single use and are discarded after wear rather than cleaned. For the acupressure mat, the spray can be used to freshen the plastic acupressure points between users, though the fabric base should be spot cleaned separately. One bottle of cleaner covers the maintenance of the entire White Lotus tool collection.
