Acne Marks

Acne is a common problem among teenagers but it can develop in adults too. It is normally caused by an oily substance called sebum which clogs the pores in the skin producing pimples around the face, neck and shoulders. It is not a serious problem but severe acne can leave skin marks if not treated properly. A 2012 research published in the Journal of Women's Health found that acne affects nearly half of all women aged between 21 and 30. This can often happen due to hormonal imbalance but poor diet and stress disorder can lead to acne problems as well.

Acne can appear in many forms such as whiteheads, blackheads, nodules and cysts. Nodules are more serious lesions appearing red and swollen due to inflammation and infection in the clogged follicles making the skin feel more painful and hard. Cysts can also be nasty because pus fills up the pimples.

It is important to keep your face clean especially if you go out a lot. Dirt can easily gather in the skin and clogs the pores causing acne to appear. You should wash your face twice a day with a cleanser to remove impurities, dead skin cells and extra oil from the skin’s surface. Many acne products contain ingredients that dry your skin, so it is important to moisturize after your wash your face with a cleanser. Finding a product that does not block the pores and moisturise is not easy, green tea oil is most beneficial for this.

If you’re looking for a natural remedy then tea tree oil is the answer. Tea tree oil has a long history for fighting mild to moderate acne problems, and reducing skin marks and blemishes. It has antiseptic properties that help reduce acne-causing bacteria and suppress inflammation in the skin cells. You can find tea tree oil in a variety of products such as soaps, skin washes and topical skin products.

Dermatologists also suggests cleaners with bacteria-killing benzoyl peroxide to minimize skin irritation. For severe cases, retinoids are recommended which some doctors consider to be the standard care for acne problems. Newer drugs such as Epiduo and Ziana combine retinoids and antibacterials to have a stronger effect on acne-prone skin. Since retinoids also have antiwrinkle properties, they can be especially beneficial for adults who develop acne as soon as wrinkling starts to appear in their skin.

Another popular medical remedy is salicylic acid which is incorporated into gels, wipes, skin creams and body sprays. The acid reduces swelling and redness in the skin by unplugging clogged pores. Green tea oil has also been shown to be very useful as it is non comeodegenic and completely natural. White Lotus have a range of serums that are useful for acne prone skin and acne scarring.

All these products can be bought over the counter, and don’t need a prescription. You should start with a small amount to test it on your skin to see if a reaction occurs, and then adjust it based on your daily needs. Maintaining a healthy and balanced diet and keeping your skin clean are the basic steps to an acne free skin. Drinking plenty of water and keeping your skin hydrated prove beneficial in the long run.
