Jade Roller, Green Tea Oil & Cupping for Stretch Marks
Stretch marks are one of the most common skin concerns we are asked about. They appear when the skin stretches faster than it can adapt, during pregnancy, growth spurts, weight changes or building muscle. Newer marks tend to look pink, red or purple, and over time they fade to a softer silver or white.
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, healthy skin depends on good circulation of blood and Qi, and on the smooth flow of fluids through the body. This ritual brings together three time honoured practices that work on exactly that: jade rolling, cupping and nourishing oil. Practised regularly, it helps skin look smoother, softer and more even, and turns a moment of self care into a calming daily habit.
What You Will Need
Why These Three Work Together
Green tea oil nourishes and softens the skin, and gives the roller and cup the glide they need to move smoothly without pulling.
Cupping uses gentle suction to lift the skin and underlying tissue, encouraging fresh blood flow to the area.
The Intensive Jade Roller has a wide, weighted crystal head designed for the body. Its cool, smooth surface helps the skin feel lifted and firm, while supporting lymphatic drainage to reduce puffiness.
The Ritual
Step 1: Prepare the Skin
- This ritual is best done after a warm bath or shower, when the skin is soft and the circulation is already flowing.
- Pat the skin dry, leaving it very slightly damp.
- Warm 4 to 6 drops of Organic Green Tea Body Oil between your palms and press it into the area you are treating, such as the stomach, hips, thighs or upper arms.
- Massage the oil in using slow circular movements for about a minute.
Step 2: Cupping
- Squeeze the body cup, place it flat on the oiled skin and gently release so it lifts the skin. The suction should feel firm but never painful.
- Slowly glide the cup in straight lines across the area, following the direction of the stretch marks.
- Then glide in the opposite direction, across the marks.
- Finish with small circles over the whole area.
- Keep the cup moving at all times. Leaving it in one place can cause marks on the skin.
- Spend 3 to 5 minutes on each area. Add a drop more oil if the cup starts to drag.
Step 3: Jade Rolling
- Place the Intensive Jade Roller on the skin and roll upwards and outwards with light, even pressure.
- On the stomach, roll in clockwise circles around the navel, then roll outwards towards the hips.
- On the thighs and hips, roll upwards towards the groin, where the lymph nodes sit.
- On the arms, roll upwards towards the armpit.
- Spend 2 to 3 minutes on each area. For an extra cooling effect, keep your roller in the fridge.
Step 4: Seal In the Oil
- Press a final few drops of Organic Green Tea Body Oil into the skin.
- Let it absorb for a few minutes before dressing.
How Often, and What to Expect
Consistency matters more than intensity. For best results, repeat the ritual 3 to 4 times a week, and use the green tea oil daily. Most people notice softer, smoother feeling skin within the first few weeks, with the appearance of stretch marks gradually improving over two to three months.
Newer stretch marks, while they are still pink or red, tend to respond best, so the earlier you begin the better. Older silver marks can also look softer and less noticeable with regular care.
A Few Gentle Precautions
- Never cup or roll over broken, irritated or sunburnt skin, open wounds, varicose veins or areas that are bruised.
- If you are pregnant, avoid cupping on the abdomen and speak with your midwife or doctor before starting any new body treatment.
- If you have a skin or circulation condition, or take blood thinning medication, check with your healthcare practitioner first.
- Some light pinkness after cupping is normal and fades quickly. If you notice marks that last, reduce the suction and keep the cup moving faster.
Make It Your Ritual
