Dont Worry But Wrinkles Could Signal Health Trouble
This was the title of an article in the Times last week. The article refers to findings by a French research group that have found that deep creases or lines on the forehead may be an indicator of potential heart trouble. This article builds on previous studies that have shown that creases on the ear lobes may be an early indicator of heart disease.
The use of lines, wrinkles and blemishes on the face to diagnose internal illnesses is relatively new and untested in Western medicine however it formed a huge part of traditional Chinese Medicine and multiple books have been written over the years on the use of medical face reading. White Lotus produced a DVD several years ago showcasing the best aspects of Chinese medical and general face reading to help bring this ancient knowledge to peoples attention it is now an online course
At White Lotus we have always believed that the times spent looking in the mirror using a jade roller or other beauty device is a perfect time to examine the face for early warning signs of health issues. We do this, not to encourage paranoia or hypochondria but because these lines are usually very early warning signs and if noticed we can modify our lifestyles and hopefully avoid many illnesses.
Prevention is better than cure!
These principles can also be used responsibly by practitioners when treating clients highlighting areas of a persons health to pay special attention to. I can tell you from personal experience it is a lot more interesting than another chat about the weather to pass the time.
So what are a few obvious lines and wrinkles mentioned in the ancient texts we can look out for and what do they mean?
Horizontal lines across the bridge of the nose - These lines are an indication of potential blood sugar issues, the most sever of which is diabetes. Lines in this area are usually an indicator that a person should be very careful of their diet and monitor this part of their health.
Vertical line between the eyebrows - This line was traditionally called the ‘suspended sword’ indicating the severity of the problem. In ancient China it was associated with energy stagnation usually as a result of stress. Stress is now widely recognised as the cause of a wide variety of illnesses and so the appearance of this line can give us an early warning that a lifestyle change may be in order.
Vertical line through the tip of the nose - Was associated with weakness of the heart energy in Ancient China and is now associated with heart murmurs in children and mitral valve prolapse in adults. This is a big one and one to really be aware of.
Chinese Medical face reading is a high subject but one that can greatly improve illness prevention and add real value to any treatment.
